2026 Acura TLX Wasn’t Leaked After All As Patents Reveal Interior Concept (Update)

Earlier, we speculated that these images might provide some insight into the next-generation TLX, but it seems that’s not the case.

Update March 15: As it turns out, the pictures of the Acura sedan you see here may have been published by the patent office this month, but they’re not new. An Acura spokesperson confirmed to Carscoops that the models are a few years old and show a never-before-seen interior concept car, not a specific model slated for production.

“Our Acura design teams regularly submit design concepts for patent protection as part of the normal design process for potential future products,” the spokesperson told us. “The design patent images in question are several years old and relate to a concept design that will not be sold.”

The original story follows below.

Is anyone else here disappointed that the face of the ZDX 2024 electric SUV looked so much worse than that of the 2022 Precision EV Concept that first previewed it? Then hang in there, because that muggie is coming, as these new patent images of Acura’s new sedan prove.

The images we obtained show what appears to be the next-generation Acura TLX (or a concept nearing production), a four-door sedan that straddles the divide between compact and midsize. And judging by what we see here, the new car will straddle the line between pretty and ugly.

Well, we’ll reserve judgment until we see some actual pictures of actual prototypes, but let’s just say we hope the front end isn’t an upgrade or if it is, Acura better justify it by putting a 12-inch under the hood. . There is definitely room for it.

As we mentioned earlier, the face of this sedan is very similar to the Precision EV Concept and features a grille that is integrated into the bumper, and possibly a body color, like the Ferrari Roma. It doesn’t look like there’s a ton of grill area for cool air to pass through, which would suggest we’re looking at an EV – if it weren’t for the presence of two pairs of exhaust pipes that poke through the dark plastic. of the rear bumper.

The headlights appear to be joined by a large V-shaped bar, and are mirrored at the rear, where the lack of locking channels seen in the patent images leaves us unsure whether we’re looking at a hatchback sedan (which seems plausible, given the market trend) or four doors and a regular trunk (like the current car).

Likewise, it’s best not to put too much store in the fact that there are no door handles in sight, and be content instead to contemplate a nice kink in the waist that rises to meet the D-pillar more elegantly than it does today. TLX.

The current TLX isn’t that old, having been launched in May 2020 and going on sale that season, so we won’t see this replacement in the next few months. But the 2021 TLX was previewed by the Type S concept in 2019, so logic suggests Acura could show off a near-production concept for this new car in 2025 before it hits the market, perhaps later that year or earlier. 2026.
