Aston Martin suffered DRS problems during qualifying

Both drivers had problems with DRS during qualifying. As a result, both are disappointed with the result, there could be more. However, they are looking forward to Saturday, where they can start with a clean slate.

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll both had DRS problems in qualifying. On a straight for a long time, DRS did not want to open, so the drivers missed at least 10 km / h at high speed. Alonso in particular is disappointed with the result, also because he was already struggling with DRS problems in FP1. Both drivers are looking forward to Saturday, where they can start with a clean slate.

“That’s what makes it exciting”

During the first free practice Alonso was already struggling with DRS problems and that didn’t work out during qualifying. Partly because of that problem, Alonso is a little disappointed. “Our qualifying position could have been better. We had problems with DRS in FP1 and qualifying. It doesn’t help that everyone is so close,” said Alonso. F1.com. He is looking forward to sprint day, and further qualifying. “Luckily we still have a long weekend to go. There are a lot of opportunities with another qualifying race and two. We go straight into qualifying, you can’t prepare or anything. That makes it exciting.”

“The car feels good”

Stroll also had DRS problems in qualifying. Despite this, the car feels good according to Canada. “The car feels good but we have problems with DRS. It was annoying especially in Q3. It just takes too much time,” says Stroll. If the team manages to find a solution, Stroll is looking forward to Saturday. Like Alonso, he is looking forward to the tension. “We’ve got to find out where that’s coming from and sort it out. I’m looking forward to driving some faster laps. That can definitely be done again on Saturday in qualifying.”
