Not everyone seemed impressed with the designs that came off Bayern’s drawing board in recent years. Maybe this new BMW Vision Neue Klasse X will change that.

Neue Klasse, this sedan, launched in September, was loved by many. This SUV variant shares the same design language, although the Germans couldn’t resist painting a bold set of kidney grilles at the front.

The new EV grille returns to the classics

Still, purists should be aware of this grille. The shape is a reference to the elongated kidney grilles of classic BMW models. Less common is the fact that there is an illuminated LED strip near the grille of the SUV. We say SUV, but don’t let BMW hear that. Germans prefer to talk about SAV, which it stands for Sports Activity Vehicle.

What is also surprising is the large wheelbase and short overhang, which will probably result in a spacious interior. That feeling of space is enhanced by the large glass roof of the BMW Vision Neue Class

Despite the futuristic interior design and striking color scheme, the interior already looks like a production-ready part. In addition to plenty of sustainable materials such as recycled fishing nets, we see an old-fashioned (and thus non-digital) interior mirror, buttons on the steering wheel and a parallelogram-shaped central screen.

In addition, the electric car has an 800-volt on-board network that offers attractive fast charging options. According to BMW, you should be able to charge up to 300 kilometers of range in 10 minutes. New wheels and a new braking system oriented towards EVs would further improve efficiency.

Importantly, it will drive like a real BMW. “The driving pleasure that is at the core of BMW is taken to a higher level with a suspension specially designed for the Neue Klasse.” In total there are four main computers – or as BMW says: ‘high intelligence’ – which controls this chassis and the rest of the car.

“BMW already showed a vision of the future of the brand and the sedan at the IAA in Munich and this is how BMW envisions the future of its X models,” the brand says. You don’t have to wait too long for the future. The BMW Neue Klasse X will be launched next year and will be built in Hungary.
