Superbike, Razgatlioglu plans to escape: “BMW strong Assen”

Despite today’s poor form, Razgatlioglu is convinced that he has everything to aim for victory this weekend.

After finishing FP1 in the lead, Toprak Razgatlioglu set the second fastest time in FP2 and in today’s overall standings in Assen. The 2021 Superbike champion showed good competition in today’s tough conditions, although the day may not be so ordinary. In any case, we think that he will be the main character with his M 1000 RR.

Razgatlioglu is very satisfied with the feeling he had today at the TT Circuit: “The feedback is really positive, I have a good feeling with the bike in the corner. I’m not 100% on the brakes yet, but we’re working on it. Acceleration and power are fine, electronics work well. Overall I am happy. At the start of FP2 I put on used tires and then new ones, but after two laps it started to rain and there was a red flag. I couldn’t set a good lap time. However the feeling is good, I hope that tomorrow will be dry and we will try to improve the rest of the engine. In the rain we are very fast, the grip is very good. We started well“.

The ROKiT BMW Motorrad team rider feels very competitive: “Strong on wet and dry surfaces, We are ready for any race conditions. I noticed that the asphalt has a high grip and today I learned this, the bike works well in all conditions. We will see tomorrow, it seems the weather will be the same as today. Winning Assen is my dreambecause I’ve never done it on a Superbike“.

Toprak won on the TT Circuit?

Razgatlioglu and BMW never won in Barcelona and they succeeded, they would also like to try in Assen, where both sides have not succeeded: “It’s not easy – he explains – because everyone is in a hurry. I am ready to fight and win, the feeling is good and the motivation is very high. I hope that everything goes well in the race and that I can fight for victory. We will see. Why not do it like in Barcelona?“.

Finally, we are talking about the final chicane of Assen, a place where extremes are often seen and which could be a good step for something like Toprak, who nevertheless hopes to escape: “I’m ready to attack the last corner. I like the first and the last. We’ll see, everyone is in a hurry. I hope I don’t get passed in the last corner of the last lap. My plan is to drive aloneif everything is fine. We will see“.
