Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban Facelift

Chevrolet Tahoe & Suburban Facelift

Even next to the Chevrolet Tahoe, the current VW Tiguan looks like it’s been hot-washed; In the USA, however, Brummers are common everyday cars and are also the best-selling models in their class. And now they are being upgraded for the next model year.

This is a classic facelift. The shape of the body itself remains unchanged. Tahoe with a length of 5.35 meters and a Suburban with a length of 5.73 meters differ only in height and wheelbase (+ 40 centimeters for the Suburban); The two flagships received their last upgrades for the 2022 model year, and are now being fully upgraded again.

New diesel from pick-up

V8 petrol engines with a displacement of 5.3 and 6.2 liters (360 and 425 hp) remain, although the large eight-cylinder is only available in the upper equipment lines. What is new, however, is the diesel engine. The six-cylinder Duramax diesel with a displacement of three liters was completely revised, including a new piston and an improved turbocharger. This new generation Duramax was already introduced in the Silverado pickup. Now a diesel engine, increased from 281 to 309 hp, joins the SUV family. The torque of the turbodiesel engine is 671 Newton meters.

The new diesel engine will also be available for the first time in the Z71 trims of the Tahoe and Suburban. These upgraded off-road variants are not available with diesel engines in the current model year. The reason for this is the front end with a modified bumper that has been adapted for off-road use. Originally there was no room here for the previous diesel engine upgrade. Now engineers have found a solution to the space problem.

Due to the “lift” in front of the off-road version of the Z71, there was previously no room for an intercooler for the diesel engine. This will change with a facelift and a diesel engine can also be ordered for the Z71.

The front design takes the contours of the previous model, but the LED lighting is stronger and more dominant than before. As usual with Chevrolet, different types of radiator grilles are used depending on the equipment, but these are changed from the original design with cross struts to different honeycomb systems. At the back, as usual with facelifts, the lower apron has been redesigned and the taillights are given a newly designed interior.

In it is towards the upper class

Repair work in the interior is more extensive. In particular, the small multimedia system of the current Suburban and Tahoe models is no longer relevant to the times, and much has been improved here. The central display now has a diagonal of 17.7 inches and complements the full digital instrument display (11 inches). Although both exhibits are not combined in one house, they are combined to create a homogeneous surface.

As part of this digital upgrade, the entire dashboard will be redesigned, the fan nozzles and individual controls will be repositioned and the center console will be reworked. While the previous interior looked cramped with bulky switches and controls, the new cockpit is more elegant and classy.

A cowboy becomes a gentleman: A highly updated and refined cockpit.

Support systems have also been expanded. On the one hand, with the new “Integrated Camera” equipment, which views all around the car and from the interior can be recorded and controlled remotely in the associated smartphone application (see video above). There are also some new support programs for trailer pilots, including monitoring the service life of trailer tires or trailer navigation to recommend routes tailored to the size of the trailer.

Soon to be on the road freely

As a further support system, the “Super Cruise” system will also be available starting in 2025, where the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban can drive autonomously on approximately 640,000 kilometers of suitable roads in the United States and Canada.

The new Chevrolet Tahoe and its long-wheelbase Suburban will launch in late 2024 as well as the 2025 model year. Of course, there is no price at this point. The Tahoe currently starts at $56,200 (around 51,600 euros) and the Suburban at $59,200 (around 54,300 euros). Prices start at $84,895 (equivalent to approximately 78,000 euros) for a fully equipped Chevrolet Suburban High Country – all, as is usual for American reports, real prices.

Absolutely excellent. Cars have turned as customers want.Terrible. Too big, too unfashionable – too American.

Chevrolet announced an update to the large Tahoe and Suburban SUVs in early November 2023, although the updated models won’t hit the market until late 2024. Some potential buyers are likely to keep their fingers crossed about the current model. Above all, the revised interior and high-end looks and modern design make the current generation look very old.
