Chrysler unveils the Halcyon concept, a sporty model with 4 doors

Would the manufacturer Chrysler, which is part of the Italian-French group Stellantis, think of coming to the country of Porsche Taycan, Polestar 4 or even Tesla Model S? Still, the American brand has launched an attractive coupe-like sedan, based on the new STLA Grand platform from Stellantis. A mechanical base that was also reserved for the future Dodge Charger electric.

Like its sulphurous cousin, the Halcyon concept has an 800-volt architecture, which is currently considered the Holy Grail. This technology makes it possible to use thinner conductors and less dense cooling systems while reducing energy loss. The machine also inherits very careful aerodynamics, especially thanks to the hood and the unusual profile that helps reduce drag when the car is moving. American designers also opted for a passenger compartment without a B-pillar and flanked by front and rear doors that open oppositely, with an angle of up to 90°.

Smart, very smart

Halcyon also aims to bring about change through the widespread use of artificial intelligence. The brand specifically states that this concept is equipped with level 4 driving, as well as retractable pedals and a steering wheel. It is enough to allow the driver to be an easy passenger, even when the car is moving. AI is also used to make the glass roof an intelligent addition, able to hide the passenger compartment when the sun’s rays are too strong or, on the contrary, to illuminate when passengers want to explore the starry sky, for example.

Chrysler has also opted for a customizable driving mode, where the car can anticipate driving based on a range of parameters such as weather and road conditions. It is enough to create a special bond with the driver and passengers, especially since Halcyon is equipped with biometric sensors that allow to identify the people riding it.

It remains to be seen if this model will be released and what technology will ultimately be retained by Chrysler…
