The John Cooper Works Countryman model will soon appear in Polish MINI showrooms. It is the first car from the JCW family with all-wheel drive. The price of this model has not yet been revealed.
The John Cooper Works Civic is the core car in MINI’s offering. Until now, the brand’s sports cars were only available as small cars with three front doors. Meanwhile, Citizen JCW is the opposite in every way.
From the outside, this car can be recognized by the large front and rear bumper. The aerodynamic kit improves the flow of air around the body. Customers can choose from seven exterior colors, while the roof and exterior mirrors are painted in a different shade of red, excluding John Cooper Works models, as well as white and black.
Standard equipment also includes 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers and sports suspension with hard-optimized springs and shock absorbers, reinforced roll controls and ground clearance by 10 millimeters. DSC system ( Dynamic Stability Control) includes Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), while the standard Sport button “boosts” the engine and its sound capabilities, and adjusts dynamic handling characteristics to the driver’s changing expectations.
There are also sporty accents inside the car. In the back there is a three-seater sofa or, on request, but at no extra cost, two individual seats. The rear bench seats can be moved along the axis in a ratio of 60:40 or individually, and their back corners can be adjusted or folded down. Folding the backrests increases the boot capacity from 350 liters to a maximum of 1,170 liters.
Exclusive options for the MINI John Cooper Works Citizen include 19-inch alloy wheels, Carbon Black Championship Red Lounge Leather sports seats, Chili Red interior trim and sports stripes.
The heart of the car is a new 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a maximum power of 218 hp. The maximum torque is 280 Nm and with overboost function even 300 Nm. This unit is equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger, direct petrol injection and continuously variable valve control, based on the VALVETRONIC system developed by the BMW Group. Performance? Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 7 seconds. Top speed is 225 km / h.
Customers will have a choice of a six-speed manual transmission (standard) or an optional six-speed manual transmission with Steptronic paddle shifters and steering wheel. Regardless of the option, drive will be transferred to both axles via an electromagnetically controlled center differential located directly at the transmission output.
The suspension of this model was developed with sports enthusiasts in mind. The front has MacPherson struts, and the rear has a multi-link design. As the manufacturer emphasizes, the springs and shock absorbers have been set more aggressively, reinforced controls have been added, and the ground clearance has been reduced by 10 millimeters.
Prices for this car in Poland will be revealed in the coming weeks.
