Customer Association: Lexus’ most reliable car brand, Tesla drivers are the most satisfied

Lexus is the most reliable car brand, according to a study by eight European consumer organisations, including the Consumer Society. Toyota’s luxury brand cars show the fewest defects, making the brand a winner. In addition, research shows that Tesla drivers are the most satisfied with their car.

Consumer organizations from Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and the Czech Republic asked 30 thousand respondents about their experiences with cars. They also asked what defects have occurred and how bad they are. The organizations also measured overall satisfaction among drivers with, among other things, the engine performance, appearance, convenience and comfort of their vehicle.

It shows that eight out of nine top-scoring brands are from Japan or South Korea. Lexus ranks first with a rating of 9.6. In second place is Suzuki (9.0), followed by Subaru (8.9). Toyota takes fourth place (8.6). Smart is in fifth place with Kia (both 8.5). Only in tenth place other European products come into the picture. BMW and Mini share that position with Mazda. They receive an 8 as a report score.

At the bottom of the list is Land Rover with a score of 4.8. Tesla ends up in the middle bracket, in 19th place (out of 33).

Satisfied

A reliable car does not automatically lead to a satisfied driver and vice versa, consumer organizations conclude. For example, Tesla owners, in the middle of the range in terms of reliability, are more satisfied with their car. In particular they praise the performance of the engine and the driver assistance and safety systems. Alfa Romeo is slightly lower than Tesla in the reliability list, but Alfa drivers are more satisfied with their car. The brand finishes second in the satisfaction list. The appearance of cars plays a big role in this.

Third place goes to Lexus. This brand seems to lack a leadership position in terms of satisfaction, especially due to the luggage space (usually it is small).

Lexus was in the news last week because the brand dropped the prices of the NX models. The cheapest version is now available from 65 thousand euros. That is 10 thousand euros less than before.
