Did you know that the Volkswagen Polo GTI is still on the market? We were surprised too

It’s been a quarter of a century with the little hothatch from the Wolfsburg brand. In 1998 Volkswagen Polo GTI it officially saw the light of day and became part of the city’s famous fast car scene.

Over the years, the concept of this car has changed a lot, and the current incarnation is a mature and multi-purpose car. On the occasion of the birthday of the round, the Germans have prepared a special series of 2,500 cars.

However, it is not a big party. The days when the letters GTI and R were featured in Volkswagen are long gone. The brand is clearly pushing electric cars and that puts them on the scene, and the fast combustion models are a little hidden.

Remember that the version of this brand, contrary to appearance, includes several interesting cars. Polo GTI This is definitely the beginning of the sale. You can still buy a solid Golf GTI or Golf R with four-wheel drive and more than a 300 hp petrol engine.

But that’s not all. There are also T-Roc R, Arteon R and Tiguan R. You can forget about the last two cars at all, because the Germans hardly promote them at all.

But back to Polo. On the occasion of his 25th birthday, 2,500 copies will be released in a limited edition. What sets him apart? As usual, we find here complete equipment, sports suspension (reduced by 15 mm) and an electronically controlled differential. There will be several attractive paint colors in the range: Smoke Gray Metallic, Pure White, Ascot Grey, Reef Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl Effect and Kings Red Metallic.

In addition, you can recognize the car from the outside thanks to the graphics on the doors, and plates with the inscription One of 2500 appeared on the thresholds.

There is certainly no shortage of power in the Volkswagen Polo GTI

The heart of this car is a 2-liter TSI engine that produces 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Unfortunately, there are no other options.

It is not known at this time if this version will appear internally Polandand if so, how much will it cost. We still have to wait for such information.
