East Idaho GMC Dealer Athlete of the Week – Kali Scoresby | Information

Kali Scoresby has been heating up the undefeated Thunder Ridge Titans all season.

The varsity softball player has been involved in the sport since she was a little girl.

Most recently, the talented athlete had a personal-best 20 goals against Pocatello High in a 3-0 win.

Kali says she always gravitated to the pitcher’s position while watching her older siblings play softball growing up.

“So, I grew up with three older sisters who all played softball,” says Kali. “So, I grew up on the field. They are eight years older than me, so I grew up knowing how to play, and I grew up loving the pitcher.”

Although the forward has had some great individual performances this season, he knows the team around him is special, and their combined efforts have led to their strong start.

“I have incredible protection behind me,” says Kali. “I’ve got some incredible mistakes behind me. My team is incredible this year. As much as I’d like to say it’s normal to go undefeated, it’s not. I mean, it’s tough, we’ve played tough competition.”

Scoresby has committed to play softball at Idaho State University. Thunder Ridge Head Coach Keisha Fisher says it’s a big deal that one of her best players will be playing at the next level so close to home.

“Yeah, it’s big,” says Coach Fisher. “For kids to be able to go on and do it, do something that they’ve been doing for a long time. I mean, a lot of kids don’t have the option to do that and not a lot of them can play like an hour from where they grew up. So, that’s better for us, we can go look at him.”

Coach Fisher says Kali is the biggest competitor and a great leader on the team.

“He’s one of our captains and he’s a vocal leader on and off the field. He’s a great mentor to our team, especially the younger kids, because he’s played for us since he was a freshman, and we have freshmen and sophomores on our team. and yes, honestly, he is the right captain.

The Titans play again on Friday April 12 at the Madison Bobcats in Rexburg.Â
