Electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 N more fun than a petrol sports car

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has a gift for turning even the most die-hard petrol heads into electric heads. With 650 hp, fake engine sounds, drift mode and many other contradictions, this is the best electric car at the moment. At a distance.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the first model from the sports label with electric motors and it’s anything but a weak attempt. Just like the i30 N and i20 N, this sporty Hyundai is also at the top of its class. For 73,995 euros, the fun package offers a driver’s car with lots of character. Front-wheel drive hot piece, four-wheel drive attack beast or rear-wheel drive monster: it can do it all. On paper, at least.

Largest battery for Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

The specifications of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N are self-explanatory. It has a maximum of 650 hp and 770 Nm, sprints to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 260 km / h. With its 84 kWh battery pack, it has the largest energy storage of all Ioniqs and a claimed range of 448 km. Then the driver has to restrain himself and that is not easy, because the Ioniq 5 N is full of temptations.

Cheating is allowed

Hyundai Ioniq 5 has many options for setting. You can try it yourself by changing the driving force. Everything forward or everything back is possible in a total of eleven variations.

It has a loudspeaker under the front and under the rear bumper to produce engine sounds, while the occupants are provided with the same entertaining sounds from the eight speakers. Very fake, but fake is allowed, as long as it adds something. There is even an eight-speed gearbox with a dual clutch programmed in, which allows the driver to shift gears. Including central shock, endless exhaust, rock hard limit and torque concentration in ‘gear’.

Lovers of attractive driving are served by the skid mode, in which the car tries to stabilize the skid angle with brake intervention on the front wheels as well as torque steering for the front axle.
