The real-life, track-only Pagani Huayra R cost €2.6 million, or around £2.2 million, when new. With taxes. In the series of track day cars, it’s at the very opposite end of the NB MX-5 stripped down roll bar. And they only did 30.
It’s fair to say, then, that not many of us will ever experience it. Fortunately, racing sim specialist Racing Unleashed has launched a new sim kit that should unlock something approaching the Huayra R experience for a few more people. We still can’t imagine it will be cheap, though.
An official collaboration with Pagani, the plant is built around a single curved piece of green fiber, recreating one of the color schemes found on the real-life Huayra R. It even comes from the same automatic that Pagani uses.
The setup also gets the same steering wheel, pedals, seats and even racing handlebars – just in case you look too hard and are tempted to push yourself forward when you hit a virtual wall after a mistake around the virtual Copse Corner.
This app is built around Assetto Corsa Pro – the most comprehensive, professionally oriented version of the user sim. Equipment, meanwhile, includes a curved screen, 5.1 surround sound, and motion activation that supposedly recreates the handling of the real thing as closely as possible. Anyone want to let us in to see what it’s really like?
Originally only offered to Huayra R owners, the sim is now available to everyone, although you’ll still need to go through a Pagani dealer to get it. We don’t have a price, but we think it will be thousands, thousands of pounds – probably enough to buy a real-life Caterham and make a real-life track.
Still, if your sim hardware budget is tighter, Asetek SimSports will at least sell you a set of officially licensed Huayra R pedals – although these are €787 (around £675). It’s an expensive hobby.
