Audi CEO explains China strategy

With the Q6L E-tron, Audi presents an independent model variant in Beijing for its largest market. Other topics: payment partnership with Porsche.

“With the Q6L E-tron we are bringing the technological advantages of our new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) to China. This model underlines our commitment to offer electric vehicles in all core segments by 2027,” said Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Audi AG Management, at the world premiere at the Beijing motor show.

Audi has a clear plan for the localization and regionalization of its models and, together with its partners FAW and SAIC, it has all the requirements to remain a strong player in the Chinese market. “Together we plan to develop intelligent, connected electric vehicles to further strengthen our position in the Chinese market,” said Göllner.

In the Q6L E-tron, powerful and highly efficient electric motors together with a new lithium-ion battery made of twelve modules and 192 prismatic cells with a total capacity of 107 kWh ensure a range of more than 700 km With 800-volt technology and a high DC charging power of 270 kW as standard, short charging stations are possible.

The SUV is offered with a rear-wheel drive version with a system output of 255 kW as well as an all-wheel drive with 345 kW. For the first time, driver assistance systems were developed to meet Chinese expectations, including Adaptive Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant Pro. Domestic production is scheduled to begin at the end of 2024, with delivery to customers starting in 2025. According to Audi, more volume models will follow from 2025 with the Audi A6 E-tron series.

Charging partnership with Porsche
