Deal: Fabio Quartararo extends Yamaha / MotoGP contract

Deal: Fabio Quartararo extends Yamaha / MotoGP contract

Yamaha is surprisingly early to announce the extension of its partnership with Fabio Quartararo. The 24-year-old will remain with the factory Yamaha MotoGP team until at least the end of 2026.

Also at an early stage of the racing season, Yamaha agreed with Fabio Quartararo to continue working together until the end of 2026.

The 2021 MotoGP world champion signed a contract with Lin Jarvis that ties the Frenchman to the Japanese company for another two seasons.

Fabio Quartararo on the new factory contract: “I am very happy to announce that I will continue my journey in blue. Last winter Yamaha proved to me that they have a new approach and new aggressive ideas. I am very confident: we will be at the top together again.
Quartararo continued: “Six years ago they gave me the chance to move to MotoGP and since then we have achieved great things together. We still have a long way to go to fight for victory again. I will work hard and I am sure that together we will reach our dream again.

Lin Jarvis, managing director of racing, commented on behalf of Yamaha: “Retaining Fabio as part of the factory team is an important part of Yamaha’s MotoGP project. Fabio is an exceptional talent, a hard worker, a great team player and he still has many years of competition ahead of him. “Yamaha Motor Company, Yamaha Motor Racing and the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team are sparing no effort to ensure Fabio has a bright future by taking a more aggressive approach to motorcycle development.”
The American added: “We have already made significant changes to our organization, including a new internal management system, hiring top industry experts, new external technical partnerships, an increased development budget and an enhanced testing program. All these changes are aimed at speeding up the process by which we return to winning ways. Fabio understood this commitment and that gave him the confidence to make his decision to stay with us for the next few years.”

Jarvis is also critical of the contract extension: “We are the first to admit that we still have a lot of work to do to return to the competitive level we were in 2021 and the first half of 2022. But with Fabio you know that he will always give 100% of his best effort .It is also a matter of course for him to build rapport and a good environment with all the crew.He can count on the full support of the team and Yamaha every step of the way when it comes to winning more championships together.

An early extension shows a good relationship of trust between both parties. The Frenchman’s operating equipment is currently not at the level to fight for victory again and the hard work of building competition is also a matter of patience. In any case, Fabio Quartararo has decided to stay out of the situation and find a way out of the problem together.

For the Portuguese doctor, “El Diablo” blocked questions about his future with a sad look. A breakup of the partnership seemed possible due to a prolonged drought in the sport. But Lin Jarvis has now created an opening for a persuasive deal to retain an important partner in the ongoing rescue project.

With the agreement between the man from Nice and the Yamaha factory team in Italy, the next high-profile driver has disappeared from the driver market after Pecco Bagnaia.
And at least in 2025 there will be stability for the manufacturer and the record of the second best manufacturer in the history of MotoGP. Because his teammate Alex Rins is a Yamaha rider until the end of next year.

In addition to the technical measures, Yamaha was also able to convince the best riders in the racing department’s efficient racing design at the right time.
The next step for the Lin Jarvis team is likely to be a full rebuild of the customer team structure.
