Ferrari F12 TDF Model: The ultimate ice cream parlor cruiser

The Ferrari F12, which was produced from 2012 to 2017, was considered the fastest road legal car at the time, with a top speed of 340 km/h. In 2015, the F12 range was supplemented by a special model of the F12 TDF, which was limited to 799 examples – a tribute to the Tour de France.

In the United States it was through the portal Bring-Trailer F12 TDF development model offered for sale. The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Mulotipo MP4 was offered through a dealer in California. However, the unique piece comes with a major limitation. Under the long bonnet is a naturally aspirated 6.3 liter V12 engine that produces 780 hp and 705 Nm – but when it comes to top speed, absolute simplicity is the order of the day.

The speed is insane

When the model was released from day-to-day development to the future as a show and demonstration car, a restriction program was installed on the engine control system, which gave the car a top speed of 15 miles – equivalent to about 24 km / h. No matter which gear of the seven-speed double clutch transmission the driver chooses, it stops at a maximum speed of 24 km / h. It’s definitely enough to run around your own yard or to the nearest ice cream parlor. But a few kilometers per hour is not there for real driving pleasure.

Apart from a few controls temporarily placed on the center console for test runs, the prototype is already compatible in some parts with the future spec model. The all-black exterior paint job is accentuated by white round number fields on the doors and hood as well as large Pirelli lettering on the rear. Current mileage is given as 19,756 miles.

The highest price achieved

However, the Italians have left a clear indication of the limitations of use in the engine compartment. “The vehicle is not road legal” is clearly written there. However, there seems to be a lot of interest in buying the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Mulotipo MP4.

It was already clear before the auction ended on April 12, 2024 that the Mulotipo MP4 would reach a high price, when after nine bids it was already valued at $450,000. In the end, the slow Ferrari reached the price of $475,000 with the tenth and final bid. New models of the Ferrari F12 TDF series with unlimited top speed were offered with prices starting at 379,000 euros.
