Verstappen’s Secret Lee Stevenson at Sauber (Audi) / Formula 1

Behind the scenes, Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl is setting the course for the future when Sauber becomes Audi’s F1 Partner at the start of 2026. The latest reinforcement: Verstappen’s former chief mechanic Lee Stevenson.

The Sauber team, which will be Audi’s Formula 1 factory racing team from 2026: After 18 years at Red Bull Racing, chief engineer Lee Stevenson is moving to Sauber.

Before Easter, the Englishman confirmed on Instagram that he will start a new chapter in his career, “the other end of the abyss”.

Stevenson started with the Milton Keynes racing team in 2006, initially as the number 2 mechanic. In 2014 he was appointed as chief mechanic. In 2023 he informed his employer that he was looking for a new challenge.

Stevenson on Instagram: “It’s been an amazing 18 years for me. I never believed that we could achieve all these great achievements. From working on the first car, the RB2 prototype, to the 2023 RB19, it’s been an amazing journey. I’d like to thank all my companions.”

Lee Stevenson will work for Sauber in Japan next weekend.
