Opel is working on the upcoming SUV with an emphasis on balance, while maintaining a compact size. This car, which would have everything taken from the Crossland, nevertheless took its name from the old all-terrain vehicle of the brand. So the Frontera returns again in 2024, not in the form of a restored Isuzu 4×4 this time, but as an SUV in the modern sense of the word, in front-wheel drive only.

The 2024 Opel Frontera is now on display, pending more details on its spec sheet. For example, we don’t know how much it measures, even if we can estimate its height at about 4.40 m, so between points B and C.

The family looks like the next Citroën C3 Aircross

If its black “vizor” front face is typical of Opel, the profile of the new Frontera is more reminiscent of Citroen production. And for good reason, it’s actually a cousin of the next C3 Aircross. The two models will be based on the Citroen C3 Aircross produced in India and Brazil and should therefore be based on the STLA Smart Car platform.

Finally, the two-level taillights are reminiscent of those of the Hyundai Creta city SUV, intended for emerging markets.

The interior lacks much originality, with two 10-inch screens attached to their extension. One is dedicated to instrumentation and the other to infotainment.

Unlike the next Citroen C3 Aircross, the Opel Frontera does not offer any seven-seat version. Opel, on the other hand, communicates a trunk volume of 460 l, which increases to 1600 l by folding the rear seat 60/40.

The SUV will be offered in a 48 V hybrid version and also in a 100% electric version, like its cousin from Citroën. The Opel model is expected to go on sale in the summer of 2024. Thanks to the use of an economical platform, we can expect an affordable price.
