You may remember the story of this Quebecer who traveled a million kilometers in his 2008 Hyundai Elantra, a man from the Maritimes is on his way to join him with his 2017 Elantra.

Tim German bought his new sedan almost seven years ago and has now driven more than 760,000 kilometers – the equivalent of 19 laps of the Earth – across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He does it for a good reason, providing urgent blood products that patients desperately need – especially during the terrible massacre of 2020 in Portapique.

The man explains that he chose the Elantra primarily for safety reasons. Being often on the road at night, he had several mishaps, encountering various obstacles and animals in his way.

“I had to replace four front bumpers, a rear bumper, a hood and two windshield washers,” he admits. The Elantra also absorbed the impact of two deer, a cow, a rabbit, two raccoons, a helmet and even a piece of metal that broke the truck. »

Tim German says he is impressed with the quality and reliability of his Elantra, which he affectionately nicknamed the “Black Angel”, but also its low fuel consumption, which has fluctuated between 6.5 and 7 L/100 km since its purchase.

Of course, in order to reach that high mileage, you make sure to do rigorous maintenance, including at least a monthly oil change as well as regular checks of filters and water.

“A wise man told me that if you take care of your car, your car will take care of you. This man was my father, who taught auto mechanics for many years,” he says.

Tim German says he wants to keep driving his 2017 Elantra for as long as possible. “It’s the best car I’ve ever owned,” he says without hesitation.
