Tesla competitor Polestar releases its first phone


Tesla competitor Polestar has officially launched its first phone in China. Unlike previous rumors have suggested, the smartphone is not a brand of Meizu 20 Pro Instead it is a new version of Meizu 21 Pro Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (The Galaxy S24 with the same SoC currently costs $724.99 on Amazon)

Other specifications of the Polestar Phone are also similar. Like Meizu 21 Proit has a triple camera setup at the back. This setup includes a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto camera. As for the battery, it has a 5050 mAh cell with 80 watt fast charging support. The phone can also charge wirelessly at 50 watts.

On the front, Polestar’s first phone sports a screen LTPO AMOLED from BOE with a refresh rate of 120 Hz with a 120Hz refresh rate, 21:9 aspect ratio, and 2160Hz PWM dimming It’s the same panel found in the Meizu 21 Pro.

What is slightly different, though, is the panel Android smartphone skin. It runs on Polestar Mobile OS, which is probably a customized version of Meizu FlyMe OS. Chinese media reports that it looks similar to the operating system found in Polestar electric cars.

Apart from this, the operating system of the Polestar Mobile puts emphasis AI features. These include AI image search, image creation functions and text synthesis. Additionally, it supports Polestar Link, which allows users to check the status of a paired electric vehicle, receive phone support and more.

As for the price, the Polestar Phone is only available in the 16GB/1TB version and costs CNY 7,388 in China (about $1,020). International pricing and availability details are yet to be confirmed.
