The 2023 Hyundai Palisade debuted at the 2022 New York International Auto Show. Hyundai’s flagship seven-seat family SUV now has a more aggressive look and updated technology for luxury, comfort and safety.
Editor-in-Chief Carl Anthony had the opportunity to test drive the current Palisade in Detroit a few years ago, and the SUV’s comfortable and quiet handling left a lasting impression. While bad driver assistance systems could use some tweaking, the Palisade offers good value for money in one of the most competitive segments in the industry.
Hyundai Palisade 2023: what’s new?
Think of Palisade as Telluride’s smart cousin, favoring golf or polo over sports like rugby or soccer. But the Palisade’s styling updates in 2023 make it look badder than ever. It has new front and rear bumpers, a wider, sloping grille, revised LED daytime running lights, vertically oriented taillights and new 20-inch wheels.
Hyundai claims that the redesign brings aerodynamic benefits with rear spoilers, aerodynamically optimized lower panels, aero spoilers on the rear wheels and an improved front cooling area. Hopefully this will fix Palisade’s sensitivity to crosswalks on the open road.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Palisade also features a 12-inch infotainment system with standard navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, USB-C ports, updated steering wheel, 15-watt wireless phone charging and various upholstery options. New for 2023 is the Palisade XRT with dark styling, 20-inch dark alloy wheels, black grille, sunroof and black leatherette upholstery.
Standard V6 engine

Front-wheel drive is standard, but Hyundai’s HTRAC AWD system (with a final ratio of 3.648) is available as an option on all trim levels. The HTRAC AWD has an electronic torque split clutch that allows torque control between the front and rear wheels. All Palisade AWD models come standard with a towing mode that optimizes the engine and transmission when towing up to 5,000 pounds.
Luxurious themed interior
The interior and equipment of the new Hyundai Palisade have been improved compared to the previous model. It features a new Ergo driver’s seat that provides more comfort and reduces fatigue on difficult journeys. The second row seats have folding headrests and ventilation, while the third row has heated seats. The Palisade is available with an interior made of fabric, leather, imitation leather or top nappa leather.
The instrument panel is new, as are the air vents (slimmer than before). Palisade’s adaptive voice recognition system instantly responds to voice commands to adjust climate control settings, heated/cooled seats and other functions. It also supports the latest version of the Hyundai Digital Key, which allows you to start the engine from an Apple or Samsung device.
“The redesigned 2023 Hyundai Palisade offers styling and features worthy of Hyundai’s flagship SUV,” said Olabisi Boyle, vice president of product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “More than ever, the Palisade is the ultimate family vehicle for everyday use and unforgettable journeys.”
