This is what the new BMW X1 for the Dutch police looks like

In the US, police cars get cool names like ‘Ford Police Interceptor’ or ‘Dodge Durango Pursuit’. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Ford Kuga Boevenvanger or a BMW X1 Bromsnor in the Netherlands, but you have to admit that the new police cars look better than the outgoing Mercedes. You’ve seen the new Kuga in all its glory before, and now we also have some great photos of the BMW X1.

BMW delivered three copies of the X1 to Dutch police this week. The officials will work with these vehicles to test whether they are suitable for use as a so-called base vehicle. This role is now fulfilled by the Mercedes B-class. The Audi A6 with the V6 diesel will remain as a Rapid Intervention Vehicle (SIV) for now.

What? How fast is the new police BMW X1?

The new BMW X1 from the police is the sDrive18i version. To put it bluntly, this is an entry-level car with 136 hp. The time from 0-100 is 9.2 seconds and the top speed is 200 km/h. You won’t win any races with this, but that’s what Audis do. The Ford Kuga is slightly more powerful with 190 hp and this is also a hybrid. BMW is still a classic petrol car.

Police report: ‘Contracts will only be signed if this phase and test models are successful.’ The police will buy about 1,100 cars with combustion engines between 2025 and 2029. In addition to the BMW X1 and Ford Kuga, the police also want to use 500 fully electric cars. The tender process for this will start after the summer.
