After the second round of scoring in the 2024 IndyCar season, it is Josef Newgarden who continues to lead the Championship.
Despite a late game in his race around Long Beach, the 33-year-old finished fourth to maintain his Championship lead, but the gap to second place has closed to just 12 points.
Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach winner Scott Dixon has broken into the top five in the championship for the first time this season. The Kiwi driver now sits second overall after the top driving class in California.
After finishing in second place yesterday, Colton Herta is now third overall in the standings as the leading Andretti Global car.
The winner of the $1 Million Challenge, Alex Palou, now finds himself fourth overall in the IndyCar standings. The Spaniard climbed from fifth to fourth this weekend.
Will Power dropped behind Palou in the standings to fifth as the Australian driver finished sixth despite taking an early lead at Long Beach.
The standout from this weekend, Felix Rosenqvist is now seventh overall in the championship after finishing ninth yesterday.
The reigning Formula 2 champion, Theo Pourchaire, met IndyCar this weekend. The French driver surprised many with his raw speed after practicing a little without delay in the car, he finished in 11th place in his first match and took 22nd place in the standings.
