This Bugatti Chiron has 400 hours of… pencil drawings (2023)

Two years ago, Bugatti had a great idea – well, they were too late compared to other luxury brands. It was there that they founded ‘Bugatti Sur Mesure’, a department that focused on customizing their already unique cars. Apparently it didn’t take long for Bugatti’s customers to take action, as evidenced by “perhaps the most difficult project they’ve ever worked on.”

Two years of work

This is the Chiron ‘Golden Era’, a car that aims to celebrate more than a century of Bugatti innovation. So the customer didn’t just opt for the W16 engine in its top “Super Sport” form – 1,600 hp, anyone? “but he also had almost the entire history of the brand painted on the car… And you can take the drawing literally, because to ensure the most authentic finish, it was done by hand with a real pencil on the lacquer. For example, on the passenger side you will find drawings 26 pre-war models, while the driver’s side documents Bugatti’s revival after 1987 with cars such as the EB110, Veyron and of course the Chiron golden color like canvas.

“But wait,†we hear you thinking, “All Chirons were sold a long time ago, weren’t they?†That’s true, but the customer in question secretly bought this copy two years ago. . That’s how long it took the ‘Sur Mesure’ craftsmen to transform the car into this unique masterpiece, and 400 of those hours were dedicated to the paint job alone. Obviously the price must have reached absurd levels, but apparently one wealthy Bugatti fan was willing to do just that. The manufacturer does not give his personal details, maybe if someone gets the idea to undo the whole thing with an eraser… Although we can hope that Bugatti has put a colorless varnish on the graphics.
