Kathua police arrest Shallu gang member involved in shootout outside GMC Kathua – The Kashmir Horizon

JAMMU : The Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested another member of the Shallu gang of gangsters who were behind the fatal attack on Sub Inspector of Police Deepak Sharma outside the Kathua Government Medical College a few days ago.
The bandit has been arrested from the neighboring country of Punjab where he had fled after the shootout.
Two members of the gang had fled from the area after their leader Vasudev Sharma was killed by the police and PSI Deepak Sharma sustained a bullet wound in the head.
Sources said that two locals helped a few other members of the gang escape from the place and enter the neighboring state of Punjab. “The locals also left Kathua and reached Punjab in search of a safe place. Sensing a difficult time for them after helping other members of the gang to leave without being arrested, they managed to give the police a slip and reach Punjab,” said the source.
“But the Jammu and Kashmir police followed them and continued to monitor their movements. Today one of them was caught by the Kathua police and has been sent back to J&K,” he added.
Director General of Police J&K RR Swain said that the police are following them and will not let Deepak Sharma’s sacrifice go in vain.
