Kia K4: South Koreans continue to rely on the combustion engine

The number of new models that are not fully electric is decreasing rapidly. But Come on it still holds – with a small sedan that is presented as a pure combustion engine.

Anyone in this country who is already looking forward to the Kia K4 will unfortunately be disappointed for now – because the successor to the Kia Forte will only be launched in the US market.

Design

Officially, the Kia K4 is the direct successor to the Forte. Visually, however, the two layers have nothing to do with each other. The flat roof of the K4 is very surprising: the coupe look is further enhanced by the fact that the rear door handles are hidden in the C-pillar. Due to the color correction – black on black – it catches the eye only late; At first glance, the K4 could also pass as a two-door car.

The lamp takes the form of a T that you can already see from, for example Kia Sorento he knows. In the K4, this appearance is extended even further by giving the rear lights a vertical line that extends around the rear bumper.

K4 should not only be launched as a sedan, but also as a station wagon. However, it is not yet clear when this will happen.

internal space

Two elements in the interior especially stand out: the seats, the dashboard, the armrest in the middle and the steering wheel are covered with green material, the color is called “Slate Green”. It is impossible to tell if it is fabric, imitation leather or real leather. There should be other colors to choose from here: “Onyx Black”, “Medium Grey” and “Canyon Brown”.

The interior is also decorated with two 30-inch screens that extend from the center of the cockpit to the area behind the steering wheel. What you have to like: In addition to the operation through the display, the buttons and keys are still used for the most important functions. For example, the air conditioner can still be controlled manually.

run

To date, two engines have been delivered to the Kia K4 – pure combustion engines. However, there are rumors that a hybrid car may follow.

The K4 starts with a naturally aspirated petrol engine with a displacement of two litres, 149 hp and a maximum torque of 179 Nm. This engine is combined with a CVT transmission.

There is a little more power with the 1.6 liter turbo petrol engine. Here the K4 has 193 hp and a maximum torque of 264 Nm. A CVT transmission is available 1.6er replaced by an eight-speed automatic.
