Lexus has given the ES technical and interior updates, updating the sedan for the upcoming 2023 model year. The upgrades aim to improve the overall feel of the interior and provide additional convenience features. This is how Toyota’s luxury department wants to go with the times.

The latest updates to the Lexus ES are based on updates for the 2022 model year. The ES gets an updated multimedia system that is said to offer quicker responses, smoother steering and access to more features. There’s also cloud-based navigation, improved voice command recognition, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Unfortunately, Android smartphone users will still have to work with a wired connection.

The new online navigation will provide real-time road and traffic information, including local fuel prices and parking options. The “Hey Lexus” onboard assistant responds to voice commands – including casual comments like “I’m not cold”.

Lexus also improved the vehicle’s data communication module. internet of things and so on. This allows the ES to use e-Care, a remote diagnostics service, as well as the Lexus Link smartphone app to remotely lock and unlock the doors, operate the hazard lights and adjust the climate to preferred settings.

The sedan now also has a revised center console. The touchpad’s days are numbered. Finally. Instead, there are now two cups. A wireless charging station is now also available on the outside of the dashboard, while USB-A and USB-C ports are available. There is also a new interior color option: “Ammon Sand”.

Meanwhile, a new ES F Sport Design trim is available, which includes a set of 19-inch wheels, 10 exterior colors, 4 interior options and F Sport Design badges around the fenders.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not changed anything about the car. Meaning: In Germany, the model is still only available as the fully hybrid Lexus ES 300h. The powertrain has a 2.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine along with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. System output is 218 hp.

Production of the 2023 Lexus ES will begin in August. The manufacturer has not yet commented on the price. They currently start at 53,150 euros for the “Business Line”. The top end is the “Luxury Line” for at least 68,600 euros.
