The Lexus LM is by far a very attractive car. And not only that, because it is the most expensive Lexus since the LFA Supercar. This car definitely has the biggest grille in the world, so much so that it can make the latest BMWs look smart. But what will impress you the most is… the impressive interior.

Lexus is now at the top of luxury

This is unheard of. The biggest screen ever installed in a car, a mini-fridge, heated and heated first-class seats, and even a small umbrella offered like a Rolls-Royce. Today, Lexus really makes high-end luxury. “There is everything you can dream of”, confirms our correspondent Cyril Provost. Because as a passenger in the back, you can even play video games on the 48-inch screen. All you have to do is plug the console into the main port on the center console. You can also watch your movies or reruns of your favorite shows, all in a zen atmosphere, while enjoying the scenery… If you decide not to lower the blinds on the windows.

The rear of this Lexus LM is a real cocoon dedicated to comfort, even up to the challenge of a limousine. Except that the van generally suffers from air noise due to its lack of aerodynamics. But it’s not the latest Lexus car, which offers some peace, and a little background music so you don’t feel bullied and completely cut off from the world. Engineers worked on noise in every nook and cranny: five layers of insulation in the ceiling, an acoustic wall between the rear seats and the driver, and the wheels worked with Yamaha to make as little noise as possible.

Little “truck-like” driving?

To this, we have to add a natural advantage compared to a limousine: a large trunk. However, the Lexus LM still lacks the dignity of a limousine. “Even if you’re naturally curious, you don’t really want to be behind the wheel of this car”, notes our correspondent. However, note that the presentation, once behind the wheel, is very clean for the car. Lexus has worked mainly on the driving position to make it lower “trucks”, especially with its right steering wheel which is not placed horizontally as it is in some utility vehicles. On the other hand, few things still remind you that you are in a car, like the wall that separates the driver from his passenger. All this is a clear reminder that the driving position is designed more for a professional driver.

But above all remains dedicated to the well-being of the rear passengers. There is even a mode offered to them on the main screen, “Rear Comfort”, which will reduce the wheel during acceleration and dive during braking by adjusting the suspension. The Lexus LM is based on the same platforms as the NX and RX SUVs, and not on a conventional utility vehicle. It receives an adaptive suspension: four-wheel drive and a simple hybrid engine of 250 horse power.

The goal: to compete with the Mercedes Class V

Unfortunately, the car does not escape the penalty: 21,192 euros for this 2,420 kg model. To be added to the base price of… 147,000 euros. However, it remains more expensive than conventional limousines and, like them, is aimed at the businessman. It also aims to be a kind of mobile office for busy business women and men, who need to make the most of their travel time.

With this model, Lexus wants above all to attract rental companies and hotels, and compete with the Mercedes Class V. The latter plays the luxury classic card. LM is a compelling technological alternative to retrograde travel.
