Looking for freelance work at McLaren in Long Beach?

Having disappointed his prospects of driving in Super Formula this year, Théo Pourchaire may make the jump to IndyCar at the Long Beach Grand Prix.

While we were waiting for him in the Sauber garage at Suzuka last weekend, the young Frenchman revealed on social media that he was indeed in Indianapolis.

In fact the pourchaire can take the wheel of the #6 Dallara-Chevrolet entered by Arrow McLaren during the Long Beach Grand Prix on April 19-21.

The F2 champion is currently on standby and will take the wheel if the injured David Malukas is unable to compete in California.

The reserve role has so far been filled by Callum Ilott, but the Englishman will be busy that weekend with the 6 Hours of Imola in the World Endurance Championship.

For his part, Théo has already secured his seat at the British-American team headquarters and spent time in the simulator to get a taste of the subtlety of the IndyCar single seater.

“We are still waiting to hear what will happen to David, if he will be allowed to drive, Arrow McLaren sporting director Tony Kanaan said PARTICIPANT. If he is not there, we will have someone else in the car.

“Obviously it won’t be Callum because he has a date conflict. So we have Théo as a replacement who, remember, is the outgoing Formula 2 champion,” confirms the Brazilian.
