March 16-18, 2023 Meeting agenda – WDFW Fish and Wildlife Commission

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Fish and Wildlife Commission is pleased to announce its agenda for the upcoming March 16-18, 2023 meeting.

This meeting will focus on a variety of topics of significance to the WDFW, including the implementation of fishery management plans, the review of species health, and the evaluation of aquatic land acquisition opportunities.

The Commission will convene on the morning of March 16 for a discussion of fishery management plans. In particular, the Commission will examine the efficacy of the current plan, the effects of any proposed changes, and the implications of such changes on the state’s fish and wildlife resources.

The afternoon of March 16 will be devoted to the review of species health, with a particular focus on salmon populations. The Commission will analyze recent population surveys and trends, and consider potential management strategies to improve the health of the state’s fish populations.

On the morning of March 17, the Commission will evaluate the potential benefits of aquatic land acquisitions. The Commission will review the status of state-owned aquatic lands, potential acquisition opportunities, and the potential implications of such acquisitions on the state’s fish and wildlife resources and habitats.

The afternoon of March 17 will be dedicated to a review of recreational fishing regulations. The Commission will consider any proposed changes to regulations, analyze the advantages and disadvantages of such changes, and discuss how to best ensure equitable access to state fisheries.

The Commission will convene for the final day of the meeting on the morning of March 18 to discuss other topics of relevance to the WDFW. This will include a review of the WDFW’s budget and the potential for further investment in the state’s fish and wildlife resources.
