Ford has released several details about the 2024 Mustang Mach-E and updates aimed at giving it more performance and range, as well as faster charging times. The sports version, the Mach-E GT, also gets a new Performance package…
Last January, Ford promised us that the new 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT would be its fastest electric car ever. However, it remained to be seen how and to what extent … The answer comes this week since the “Blue Oval” revealed the software and equipment improvements of its electric sports SUV. Donna Dickson, chief engineer of the electric crossover, specifically revealed that the new rear motor was lighter than its predecessor while delivering increased torque.
In addition, along with new temperature control algorithms, Ford can offer a new “performance update” (understand the choice!) on its crossover that allows the Mustang Mach-E GT to get 136 Nm of torque. This allows the sportiest model in the catalog to reach 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, which is theoretically faster than the base Tesla Model Y Performance and Porsche Macan 4 Electric. Let’s add that the Mustang Mach-E GT can now reach the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds.
Ford engineers also improved the performance of the Mustang Mach-E’s batteries, resulting in greater range and shorter recharging times. At the CC (direct current) terminal, the gain still reaches 20%. On long-range battery models (see our Mach-E Extended Range test) it takes just 36 minutes to go from 10 to 80% charge. When the batteries are 100% charged, the Mach-E GT gains a range of 16 km up to 451 km, while the new Mustang Mach-E Rally (which replaces the AWD version in our test) reduces its range by 426 km mainly thanks to its larger tires .
For 2024, the Mustang Mach-E range therefore undergoes a minor spring cleaning and therefore begins with the Select version, whose base price in the USA will be $41,890. Pricing for the premium model starts at $45,890 while the Premium, Extended Range, RWD model starts at $48,890. Finally, the Mustang Mach-E GT starts at $55,890 and now features standard performance seats, MagneRide damping, and Brembo brakes, which were previously included on the GT Performance trim. Finally, Mustang Mach-E Rally prices start at $61,890.
Let’s add for the record that the optional performance upgrade costs $995 as a stand-alone option, but drops to $745 when paired with the new $1,995 “Bronze” appearance package (pictured here).
