Murdered Truck Driver Linked to Florida Kidnapping Caught on Camera

Authorities in Florida have revealed shocking new information about carjacking that resulted in the death of a 31-year-old woman. During a news briefing on Monday (April 5), Sheriff of Seminole County Daniel Lemma say the killing of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias‘ may be linked to the fatal shooting of the truck driver.

Deputies believe De Aguasvivas was sitting in his white Dodge Durango at a stoplight in Winter Springs when a gunman got out of a green Acura and approached his car on April 11. Video recorded by a witness shows the suspect pointing his gun at driver’s side window before entering De Aguasvivas’ car. Both Durango and Acura then drive.

Officers later found De Aguasvivas dead inside his burned-out Durango at a construction site. SCSO suspects he was shot to death before the car was set on fire. Investigators believe the suspects and Aguasvivas knew each other.

Lemma said the truck driver was killed the day before the fatal kidnapping, and a green Acura was seen at the scene. More than 100 rounds were fired, including rare ammunition, according to deputies. He noted that a green Acura was towed from an Orange County apartment complex on March 19 because it was parked illegally.

The sheriff said the cases are “connected, or coincidental.”

Law enforcement found a green Acura illegally parked at an Orange County apartment complex on Saturday (April 13). There is no information on the whereabouts of the suspects as of Tuesday morning (April 16).

The sheriff’s office also released an Orange County deputy Francisco Estrella was arrested on Sunday (April 14) for allegedly leaking information about the case to the Aguasvivas family. Estrella is accused of using a false name to obtain personal information of SCSO detectives conducting investigations and recording conversations.

According to Lemma, Aguasvivas’ husband and her brother contacted a childhood friend, who was Estrella’s wife, with the information. He is not considered a person of interest in the case and “cannot be charged,” the sheriff said.

The victim’s husband told deputies his wife was visiting family in Central Florida, but authorities could not confirm the woman had relatives in the area.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact SCSO.
