New Lexus LBX: Exciting, different and ambitious

The new Lexus LBX is the smallest Lexus since the brand was launched: 4.19 meters long, 1.83 meters wide, 1.56 meters tall. The noble daughter of Toyota is surprised by this. Because when many manufacturers withdraw from the lower parts of the car, Lexus decides to go completely opposite and expands its range – to the bottom.

The Lexus LBX should finally put the first brand on the road to success in Germany. In Europe it has been that way for a long time, and in the USA and Asia anyway. Although the registration numbers in this country are (still) manageable, the trend is very high. Last year, the Japanese luxury manufacturer recorded a significant increase. The total of 3,259 new registrations in 2023 corresponds to an increase of 18.7 percent compared to the same period last year. Lexus is growing more than twice the overall passenger car market, which, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), will grow by 7.3 percent in 2023.

Lexus LBX opens a new chapter

However, the luxury brand Toyota does not want to rest on the strong growth of the year that ended recently. Instead, Lexus is launching a style offensive on a grand scale – the new LBX is the first. “2023 was a very successful year for us in Germany,” says Holger Kiener happily. And the General Manager of Lexus elaborates further: “It shows that our brand’s reputation of ‘Making Luxury Personal’, i.e. personal attention and customer satisfaction, is an important driver of growth in the premium segment as well as innovative products.”

Moreover, you can Lexus it now boasts the last model range in the company’s history. “Above all, our new entry-level LBX model opens a new chapter in Lexus’ strategy and opens up younger target groups for us,” predicts General Manager Kiener. With a luxury compact SUV, Lexus also wants to prove that luxury doesn’t always have to be big. Even small and beautiful now takes on a whole new meaning, at least in the world of Lexus luxury cars, with the luxury baby LBX.

Sky instead of equipment lines

With a vehicle length of 4.19 meters, the Lexus Breakthrough Crossover is ideal for urban life, but does not compromise on quality and attention to detail. Designed specifically for a young customer base in Europe, the stylish Japanese advantages should also bear fruit here. The base price of 32,990 euros makes entering the luxury world of Lexus no longer seem high. Perhaps this is also why the individual model versions are no longer called hardware lines, but are instead known as “Atmospheres”. And it is precisely these conditions that should now have a more targeted impact on the lifestyle of potential customers.

“Elegant” and “Relax” stand for high-end looks, “Emotion” and “Cool” for power and performance, although the base version of the luxury crossover of the same name already comes with amenities such as Lexus’ latest infotainment . . The multimedia system is operated via a 9.8-inch touchscreen, offers cloud-based navigation and improves travel planning with real-time information on traffic incidents and delays.

Fully equipped with “Lexus Safety System +”

Standard equipment includes a number of electronic assistants, which are integrated into the latest generation of “Lexus Safety System +”. Among other things, the assistants identify the risks of an accident, warn the driver and, if necessary, intervene by direct steering, braking or controlling the vehicle’s power to avoid a collision or reduce the damage.

Pre-sales of the new compact crossover are already underway, as is production of the compact
The premium SUV will be launched at the end of 2023. The official market launch is scheduled for March 15, 2024. The first copies are scheduled to be delivered to customers in the same month.
