No. 7 Arkansas secures series victory vs. Auburn with 9-3 win

No. 7 Arkansas solidified a series victory against Auburn Sunday, propelling to a 9-3 win at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks (20-3, 2-1 SEC) commanded the matchup versus the Tigers (13-9, 0-3 SEC) from the outset. The Hogs put up four runs in the first inning, while their defense staved off an Auburn comeback attempt by limiting the Tigers to just three runs in the game.

Arkansas’ offensive surge was powered by a pair of home runs, courtesy of Christian Franklin and Robert Moore. Franklin’s two-run shot in the first frame set the tone for the rest of the game, while Moore’s solo blast in the seventh inning provided the Razorbacks with a much-needed insurance run.

The Hogs’ pitching staff also proved to be a formidable force, as Connor Noland and Kevin Kopps combined for 11 strikeouts in the game. Noland earned the win for Arkansas, finishing with six strikeouts and just two runs allowed in his five innings of work.

“The guys did a great job today,” Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said. “They got off to a good start and then kept the pressure on the whole game. We had great pitching and our hitters came through when we needed them.”

The win gives Arkansas its 20th victory of the season and keeps the Razorbacks atop the SEC standings. With the series now in hand, the Hogs can focus on the upcoming matchup against Ole Miss.

“We’re really proud of the way the guys competed today,” Van Horn said. “We’re now in a great position to take the series against Ole Miss next weekend and keep our momentum going.”
