electric converter that goes to 290 km / h

Maserati has just lifted the curtain on the new GranCarbio Folgore, an electric convertible that develops up to 830 hp and 1,350 Nm of torque.

Maserati “Made in Thunder”, that is to say “forged by thunder”. It is with these words that the brand presented the GranCabrio Folgore, its first 100% electric convertible focused on performance since the car is based on an 800 volt architecture and was developed with technical solutions derived from Formula E.

Like its twin, the GranTurismo, the GranCabrio Folgore benefits from four real seats and the bodywork uses lightweight materials such as aluminum, magnesium, or even high-performance steel.

Fastest power converter

As mentioned above, on the technical side, Maserati’s development team started with the electric Formula E GranCabrio Folgore powered by three motors, one at the front and two at the back (driven by silicon carbide alternators derived from Formula E). , for a total power of 610 kW (830 hp) in peak Corsa mode is involved, and already 560 kW (762 hp) otherwise, while the torque reaches 1,350 Nm.. The performance is insane and the speed of 0 to 100 kilometers per hour was announced 2.8 seconds and a high speed of 290 km/h.
The battery, produced at the Mirafiori Battery Hub factory in Turin, has a nominal capacity of 92.5 kWh. Maserati announced an intermediate range 419 and 447 km in one charge, depending on the configuration. Thanks to its 800 volt architecture, the car can recover 100 kilometers of autonomy in 5 minutes with a power of 270 kW. 20 to 80 percent takes only 18 minutes, as a Let EV6 or even the Hyundai Ioniq 5, two of the best students in the field.
Finally, Maserati guarantees a great experience thanks to the work of Maserati Innovation Lab engineers who have reproduced the brand’s classic V8 sound, complemented by the Sonus faber 3D immersive sound system.

In line with the new Maserati range

Aesthetically, compared to the warm version, the difference is small. The most interesting feature is the canvas hood, available in five colors (Black, Navy Blue, Grigio Titan, Greige, Granata) and which can be driven up to 50 km / h. It opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds. You have a choice between six rim designs (20 inches front, 21 inches rear), and four different finishes for the Folgore edition.
The interior of the GranCabrio takes inspiration from other current Maserati ranges. It has the Maserati Intelligent Assistant multimedia system, a screen that brings together the main functions in an integrated touchscreen interface, a digital clock and even a head-up display.

Knowing that its technical cousin, the GranTurismo Folgore starts for the first time in France from At 198,350 euros, the GranCabrio should do a bit of business more than 200,000 euros.
