Mercedes-Benz launches a campaign to eat food using a vegan restaurant vhy!

Mercedes-Benz has launched a joint campaign with vegan restaurant vhy! and its managing director Timo Hildebrand started with the best climate nutrition.

From April 23 to April 26, 2024, Mercedes-Benz Gastronomy will organize together with the Stuttgart vegan restaurant vhy! A campaign to show how tasty, diverse and climate-friendly plant-based dishes can be. Four dishes from the restaurant are served in participating canteens, changing daily Mercedes-Benz gastronomy already.

Dishes on offer include Maultaschen with mushroom filling and potato salad, spinach dumplings with herbs and spice crumbs, open falafel wrap with carrot hummus and “Zurich style” sliced pear and sunflower base. Yesterday, April 25, Timo Hildebrand was on a private site in the canteen in Untertürkheim together with Mercedes-Benz Recruitment Director and Labor Director Sabine Kohleisen.

Action days will take place in Untertürkheim, Sindelfingen and Vaihingen. In Untertürheim, Timo Hildebrand and Sabine Kohleisen even served food personally on site.

More steps towards healthy and climate-friendly nutrition at Mercedes-Benz

In addition to campaigns like the one with vhy! Mercedes-Benz is implementing various other measures for a healthy and climate-friendly diet. For example, the company supports Planet Health Food. Since April 2024, Mercedes-Benz Gastronomy has systematically and extensively planned the canteen menu with scientific guidelines for these nutritional needs, which take into account the health of people and the planet. By the end of 2025, the menu should contain plant-based ingredients.

In addition, the plant-based main course is offered at a lower price. With the launch of the spring menu in April 2024, a plant-based main course is now the best bet. Mercedes-Benz Gastronomy also offers food from the region and from organic farming. And since 2022, the company has been showing the weather of the food served in its canteens in Germany. The goal is to reduce the carbon footprint of food purchased and produced.

Sabine Kohleisen says: “Nutrition has a huge impact on our health, but also on our ecological footprint. The role of our canteens is equally great. The Mercedes-Benz Gastronomy team has been doing a great job here for many years and offers a diverse, healthy and high-quality selection of food. From now on, the main plant-based plate is also very attractive in terms of price. With around five million lunches every year in 22 canteens as well as catering in shops and bistros, Mercedes-Benz gastronomy turns a big wheel – for the supply and health of our employees and for the environment.

Moritz Mack, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Catering GmbH, adds: “Mercedes-Benz Gastronomy and the vegan restaurant vhy! have the same mission: We want to show how tasty, healthy and diverse food is for different climates. To achieve this this, we have joined forces for a joint campaign. Although we already have a different menu at Mercedes-Benz, we want to significantly increase the number of vegetables and fruits in our canteens by the end of 2025. However, meat and fish will still be on the menu. Our goal is to create an offering that satisfies every taste.
