2017-2020 Acura and Honda Models

  • About 2.6 million vehicles are affected in the United States
  • Fuel pumps will be replaced, free of charge
  • No crashes/injuries have been reported related to this issue

Honda of America will voluntarily recall approximately 2.6 million 2017-2020 Acura and Honda vehicles in the United States to replace their fuel pumps, free of charge. The fuel pump’s thrust was poorly designed, resulting in low density influences. Over time, the low-density impeller can deteriorate and interfere with the fuel pump body, causing the fuel pump to malfunction. If the fuel pump module does not work, the engine may not start or may stall while driving, increasing the risk of an accident or injury. Honda has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Countermeasures replacement parts are not available in sufficient quantity for all recalled vehicles at the time of this announcement, and American Honda intends to notify vehicle owners of the action. The first notice sent by mail to all owners will be early-Feb. 2024 and subsequent mailings will occur as parts become available. Owners of these models can also determine if their particular vehicle will need restoration repairs by visiting www.recalls.acura.com, www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
