Palma Costi (Pd): “If a Maserati is not designed and produced in Modena it is not a Maserati” – SulPanaro

Press release from regional councilor of PD Palma Cost:

“If Maserati is not designed and produced in Modena it is not Maserati. Any high-end car product, manufactured by the Stellantis Group in other parts of the world, and which can be proud of the Maserati brand, will not be able to represent. in the future that combination of creativity, genius and the beauty that generations of designers and workers have been able to create, leading Maserati to represent a symbol in the world of Made in Italy along with other major automotive brands in the Emilia-Romagna region. For this reason we cannot witness the continued poverty of the Research Center and the production plant in Modena, without the Government responding adequately, as the trade union organizations are already working together with the workers, the Region of Emilia-Romagna and the Municipality of Modena. .

Also because Maserati is the tip of the iceberg of Stellantis’ ambiguous industrial policy in Italy, which also applies to other cities and regions in the country. A process that cannot be done by the Government in an unusual way, since it is a real strategic and unusual resource Created in Italy. If the Ministry of Production Activities of the current Government has taken even the name of the Ministry for Made in Italy, we expect that words will be followed by actions.

For this reason I believe that, as has happened in other cases, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, must immediately open discussions with President Macron since Stellantis was born from the merger of FCA and Peugeot and the French Government has a stake in the new international company . This is to facilitate the presence of the CEO of Stellantis at the next ministerial table, opened by the trade unions.

Italy and France, two countries that still maintain a strong industrial base, must take steps to develop agreements to encourage the perpetuation and consolidation of prestigious brands in their countries of origin. They are committed to supporting the relaunch of the Maserati Research and Production Center in Modena and at the same time to collaborate so that both countries have a positive impact on the automotive supply chain in terms of research, innovation, production and employment. Only in this way will it be possible to deal with the ongoing conflict with Stellantis in a coordinated and profitable way for both countries and avoid the risks of weakening, especially in Italy, the industry that creates the quality of Italian manufacturing, made up of small and irregular. medium sized businesses. Cooperation between the countries of our Europe must serve this: to create the conditions to strengthen the most suitable production districts and avoid unfair competition from other countries”.
