Defective manufacturing on some 208s from French car brand Peugeot is causing a major recall in France, we learn from specific sources. Source: a poorly welded axle can crack and increase the risk of accidents and injuries to passengers.

According to the website Rappel-Conso.gouv.fr and Rape which recalls, these Peugeot 208s were sold in France between January 18 and March 14, 2023. The vehicle identification number is U e2*2007/46*0639*21-*23. A similar warning was issued in Germany.

“The rear axle may not seat properly, which may cause cracks to form over time. As a result, the rear axle may break, resulting in reduced handling and an increased risk of an accident,” comments Rape.

These vehicles, assembled at the Stellantis factory in Kénitra, cannot be approved: the product does not comply. “for the Regulation related to the authorization and market surveillance of vehicles and their trailers, as well as the systems, components and different technical instruments intended for these vehicles”.

No reports were made in Morocco. The city car is one of the best selling in the kingdom.
