Places to Avoid When the 2024 Acura Grand Prix Takes Long Beach


LONG BEACH, CA – The 2024 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach officially kicks off this month and with that comes several road closures in the Downtown area.

The closure will begin Wednesday and last until 5 p.m. Monday, April 22, officials said. Road closures throughout the week include:

Starting Wednesday, April 17

4 in the morning

  • Eastbound Shoreline Drive from Broadway to Ocean Boulevard is closed.

Pine Avenue is open to traffic for Hyatt Hotel guests, waterfront restaurants, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenants. Valet parking is available for those dining at the waterfront restaurants and regular parking is also available at Shoreline Village. Those parking in the area were advised to follow the directional signs.

Visitors can still get to the Aquarium of the Pacific by Chestnut Place or Golden Shore Avenue. However, all vehicles parked in the Aquarium’s parking structure are required to be out by 3 p.m. on Thursday, officials said.

  • Pine Avenue reopens with access to the Hyatt Hotel, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenants;
  • Valet parking and regular parking in the Marina Green parking lot reopen.
  • The access road at Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue is closed.

Monday, April 17

At 5 pm the traffic will be reopened

  • East and West Beach Park;
  • Queensway Bridge North and South Crossings;
  • East and West Sea Route;
  • Pine Avenue North and South including Pine Avenue Circle;
  • Shoreline Village Park North and South;
  • All service roads and local streets in The Pike.

The Aquarium of the Pacific will remain open to visitors during regular hours and parking will be available in the Queen Mary parking lot. Free shuttles to the Aquarium will be provided, officials said.
