Polestar sees Porsche and not Tesla as competition


Polestar is often mentioned as an alternative to Tesla, as it was seen as an alternative to the brand, especially with its first electric car. Polestar 2 is a good alternative to Tesla Model 3. But after a while the marketing changed.

While the Polestar was still marketed as a Tesla hunter when it was launched in 2017, marketing has long since changed. Which is also because Polestar has realized that Tesla is getting cheaper and cheaper and that they can’t do it.

The Polestar 4 is supposed to upset the Porsche Macan

Speaking to Drive, Graeme Lambert from Polestar emphasized that Tesla is therefore not a competitor to Polestar. They aim for several million electric cars per year, while Polestar’s goal is only 150,000 cars (by 2025).

So if you want to find a brand that Polestar can compete with, it would be Porsche. The upcoming Polestar 4 is classified by Polestar as a replacement for the new Porsche Macan Electric and not a Tesla Model Y.

Difficult. I can understand that Tesla is hard to beat on price, but for me the Polestar 2 is more in line with Tesla and less with Porsche. I’m curious to see if that changes with the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.
