This very expensive 7-seater SUV will be the sixth electric Porsche

Not all photos of the Porsche K1 are equally sharp, but they were taken from a great distance. You can still clearly see that it is a big car: more than 5 meters long, the length of an SUV and big enough for seven seats. Consider it a competitor to the Mercedes EQS SUV and BMW iX.

What should Porsche do with such a large electric car? Make money, of course! The Porsche K1 (we don’t know the exact name of the model yet) has now been in development for four years and sits above the Porsche Macan and Porsche Cayenne. These are the best selling types of the brand. K1 is expected to perform particularly well in China and the United States.

The sixth electric Porsche

For those keeping count: the K1 could be Porsche’s sixth electric model. The Porsche Taycan was already there, the electric Macan is just new and will be joined next year by the Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman. Then the counter reaches four. Porsche’s fifth EV is penciled in on the calendar for 2026: the electric Cayenne.

The first car on the new SSP Sport platform

Oddly enough, we know more about the K1’s technology than its design. The CEO of Porsche has already revealed that the 7-seater SUV will be the first electric vehicle based on the new platform. It’s called the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP Sport) and it wipes the floor with the all-new PPE platform for the electric Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron.

For the specifications we have to go back to the rumors: not 800 but 920 volts for charging speed and a battery of more than 100 kWh, which means from the intended range of 700 kilometers. Equally important is to consider the space of the interior: Porsche looks emphasizing that the SSP Sport platform will have a low floor and deep footwells for all passengers. A flat battery pack will help with this.

Porsche K1: price

Our spy photographer has heard rumors that the price of the Porsche K1 will in any case exceed 175,000 euros. Small consolation: since it is an EV, another billion euros in BPM will not be added in our country. As mentioned, it is planned for 2027.
