This Dodge Charger ‘Dumbo’ with over 1,000 hp can be yours

People are always looking for more. More happiness, more money, more wealth. And no, the last two are not the same. American automakers have plenty to offer for that last wish. The engine of this Dodge Charger came out of the crate and is good for 1,014 hp and 1,288 Nm. Good news: this car could soon be yours.

The 1968 Charger was nicknamed ‘Dumbo’. Not because it goes against the laws of nature (those ears are never strong enough to make a baby elephant fly…), but because of the Hellephant engine. In total, only 100 copies of this engine were built by hand. The number fifty is on this decorated Dodge Charger.

A good motorcycle alone is not enough. That is why the builder visited various dealers for certain purchases. It has a six-speed manual gearbox from Bowler, handlebars from Ringbrothers, suspension from Mopar, exhaust system from TTi, shock absorbers from Viking, LED lights all around, brake discs from Wilwood and wheels of alloy from Rushforth.

The Dodge Charger Dumbo will go under the hammer at Mecum Auctions on November 12 in Las Vegas. The auction house does not give an indication of the cost of the Charger. When the engine was available, it went for $29,995, which was 26,921 euros at the time. A quick yard tour tells us that you can easily spend around 100,000 euros for a ’68 Charger in good condition. Will you make a good offer?
