Rumor has it that the LEGO Lamborghini Countach has a lot going for it

The LEGO Lamborghini Countach 10337 is said to have a lot of work to do before it even goes on sale, and it’s all thanks to a great version of the car already available if you know where to look…

It will reportedly hit shelves on July 1 for $179.99 (according to itavixbrix via Brick Clicker), the 10337 Lamborghini Countach is set to be the next addition to the ever-growing LEGO Icons series. This means it will be in the same range as the 10265 Ford Mustang, 10321 Corvette and so on. But the famous car from the 70s with its wedge-shaped shell is already available in LEGO in this size. All you need is a 10295 Porsche 911 replica.

If you were to try some sort of site-wide analysis of Rebrickable, you’d probably find that the majority of alternative models hosted on the LEGO site are cars. Whether it’s eight sheets of Speed Champions width or a large scale of Expert/Creator Icons, petrolhead fans have no shortage of custom or alternative models to fill their LEGO garages. And the bottom is Firas Abu-Jaber’s amazing Lamborghini account.

Designed and built entirely from components contained within 10295 Porsche 911s, this is one of the most amazing and accessible alternatives around. All you need to do is grab a copy of the 2021 LEGO Icons Roadster and download the Countach instructions from Rebrickable and you’re good to go. You can check out our Prototype for a closer look at how it works, but suffice it to say that there are only a few areas where additional parts would help.

Otherwise, it’s amazing how Porsche parts can be converted into a Countach, and that means that the LEGO Group’s official model – if it even exists based on the rumors – is already in for a tough fight. You might think that an official set could benefit from new parts or a repaint to complete the finer details and smooth the lines, but in reality it’s hard to find many areas of Firas’ design that have been seriously improved.

Of course, the price difference between the 10295 Porsche 911 and the 10337 Lamborghini Countach works in the new set’s favor: the Lambo is said to be $10 more expensive than the Porsche. So once you consider the cost of Firas orders, most people will be shooting for the official model. But if you’ve already built Firas’ Countach or have a copy of the 10295 Porsche 911 lying around, you might have a hard time justifying buying a version that might be even slightly better than this particular model.

We’ll definitely know – and hopefully be able to compare the two – if and when the LEGO Group lifts the curtain on the 10337 Lamborghini Countach. Until then, all information about this alleged set is considered unconfirmed…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, a LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not the case. Journalism, however, runs through my veins like a strange kind of literary blood — the kind that will inevitably one day lead to stress-induced inactivity. It’s like smoking, only worse. Luckily I can write about LEGO until then.
