Sales record: Bielefeld’s Porsche boss dies

Bielefeld. With a record turnover of 45 million euros, Frank Menzel is leaving after more than 32 years as managing director of operations of Glinicke Sportwagen GmbH, Porsche Center Bielefeld. From the middle of this year he will hand over operational management but will remain with the Glinick group.

Frank Menzel is the face of the Porsche Center Bielefeld. The East Westphalian began his success story as a sales manager in January 1992 and, according to the statement, led a troubled company “with a passion for people and brands in one of the most profitable Porsche centers in Germany.”

In 2000, Wehmeier & Castrup GmbH was merged into the Kassel Glinicke group of companies under the general management of Frank Menzel. From 2002 to 2008, Menzel was also managing director of the Porsche Center in Kassel and brand spokesperson for the Glinicke Porsche centers in Bielefeld, Erfurt and Kassel. In 2003 he also became a board member of the Porsche dealer association and was also able to impress people with his enthusiasm.

President of the Porsche business organization

From 2004 to 2007, the German trade association Porsche elected a president. The highlight was a large new building in 2013 and an opening ceremony in 2014 to mark the relocation of the new Porsche Center on Bechterdisser Straße in Bielefeld. Most recently, Menzel was involved in the planning of the new Porsche centers in Minden and Kassel as well as the transformation into the new “Destination Porsche” in Bielefeld.

“Thanks to strong business management and early recognition of opportunities,” the company is in a good position today with current sales of 45 million euros (2023). Since taking over the post 32 years ago, the 58-year-old managing director has also managed to increase the number of employees from 16 to 33. It is said that the decision to end his role as chief operating officer was not an easy one for him.
