Huge crowds are expected in Calgary for SUPERTRAIN 2024

SUPERTRAIN is one of the most popular weekend events in the city and is also Canada’s largest model train show.

It occupies the Genesis Station at 7555 Falconridge Blvd NE with approximately 5,400 square feet of operational railroad structure.

The event runs from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday and features Lego trains, Thomas and Friends, garden railways and photo shows as well as live performances.

The first demonstration of a model train using the SUPERTRAIN name was held in March 1995 at Mewata Amouries; by 1999 it was so popular it moved to the Big Four Building at Stampede Park before moving to the Genesis Center.

SUPERTRAIN 2024 is presented by the Calgary Model Railway Society which has approximately 300 members from Calgary and the region who are interested in the hobby of model railways, and sharing that hobby with the public.

Organized railroading in Calgary dates back to 1938, when the first club, the Calgary Model Trainmen, was formed.

This year, SUPERTRAIN is supporting the Calgary Food Bank and encourages attendees to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to one of the collection boxes set up at the Genesis Centre.
