Skoda Enyaq Coupe: much the same (good)

Skoda Enyaq was the best-selling electric car in 2021 in the Netherlands and the name should be added with the help of this Coupé.

After the introduction of Volkswagen.5 and Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback, Skoda Enyaq Coupé is expected to unveil five doors on the MEB platform. It is the largest of the three mentioned and is the only one not built in Germany, but in the Czech Republic. After the B column, the body differs from the regular Enyaq due to the sloping roof and the standard glass roof. This is not only for beauty reasons, but also for being thin and should keep the back room acceptable. For the crown remains for a person 1.80 meters tall about five centimeters up to the roof and the back leg room is not infrequently spacious. The front and rear seats are as comfortable as the standard version. From the driver’s seat, it appears that the rear view is much smaller due to the larger rear window style. Also in Coupé, Skoda can offer a dashboard made of better material than Volkswagen with similar building blocks; it remains to be seen.

The weight of the two Enyaq body dialects does not differ much, but Coupé is slightly heavier due to its glass roof. Because of its rear adjustment, the cargo space ‘decreased’ from 585 liters to 570 liters. The external dimensions are almost identical, but the coupé has low air resistance. As a result, on the largest available battery of 77 kWh, it is located between 10 and 15 kilometers further in a full package, to make 544 km possible.

Versions

The delivery plan largely has similar versions. So the iV 60 has a working capacity of 58 kWh and the total value of iV 80 is 77 kWh. The smallest battery is only available with a 180 hp rear wheel drive, can charge a maximum of 120 kW and has a range of 417 km. Then there is the rear wheel drive with 204 hp and a four-wheel drive Coupé iV 80x and 265 hp with a large battery, both can charge up to 135 kW. All these versions will not be released until July and still do not have a price tag. Only the new RS variant with the same specifications as the GTX alternatives of ID.4 and ID.5 will be available immediately and will cost 58,990 euros. This makes 3300 euros more expensive than (small) ID.5 GTX. Other coupés will cost about 2400 euros more than the standard Enyaq. Consider the 58 kWh version from 46,000 euros and 77 kWh for at least 53,000 euros.

Coupé has a newer version of ME3 that will only be available for the regular Enyaq in the second half of 2022; current drivers should go to the dealer for that. This design provides better battery temperature control for more consistent charge levels and a more stable infotainment system with more color icons. Additionally, online updates are now possible, so that the system is always up to date and does not end there. The search function of the charging stations has been improved and the number of your favorite symbols has been expanded, thus enabling you to run frequently used functions with more shortcuts. For example, you can turn off road support with a few actions, the wishes of many Enyaq drivers. In addition, the My Skoda app has the simple functionality of A Better Route Planner, so you can see what is the best billing strategy for the long haul. These are all things that have not been fully tested during the first trip to Italian soil and will therefore be discussed during a future experiment. What stands out in the iV 80 is the unchanging chassis. Fountains, waterfalls, stagnation and direction are all the same, confirms Coupé’s chassis manager. This means that the folding and diving directions are well suppressed and the comfort and flexibility of the variable variants on the 20-inch wheels are the same, while the smooth steering is correct and the car reacts well to the steering movement.

RS variant

To give Coupé an introduction to body and color, Skoda allegedly adds a RS variant in the Crocodile Green color. It is the first time for this label to appear on the electronic Skoda and it is a disappointment for the fan from the point of view of sports like the Volkswagens electronic variant GTX. With a combined power of 300 hp and 460 Nm, it is smooth, but the sprint time of 6.5 seconds to 100 km / h is not a special thing in EV ground. It only offers its maximum power and battery charge of at least 88 percent, while the battery temperature must also be between 23 and 50 degrees Celsius. What’s even more annoying is that any play or heart is hard to find.

With a weight of over 2200 kg and a stabilizing system that does not allow for enhanced handling, there is no greater joy in having it than a standard copy. He is heavy, weak and has a steering wheel to hide it. That’s RS-inappropriate, especially if we think back to Octavia’s excellent range of RS. Obviously the version is run by the marketing department and not people with RS genes in their blood. On the other hand, the appearance is an interesting version thanks to the toxic green color and subtle embellishments for the body. Available on two different bases. It is basically 15 mm low on the front axle and 10 millimeters on the rear axle as well as strong liquids, slightly harder than the standard Enyaq. Block-roll roofs are a little harder to provide better body control and quick impact on angles. If you choose optional flexible dampers, reduction is not necessary anymore, but you will get a wider range in return. Above all, it means more comfort and that is the extra required by 21-wheel drive wheels. For its price, it also comes close to many other EVs that can provide better classification and more comfortable driving. Certainly not the best option from the Coupé column, when in most cases it is as good as the standard Enyaq.

The final decision

Good, almost practical version of the famous Enyaq. It influences only as a common dialect, except as RS.
