Steve Hackett: lead guitarist for Genesis in their original lineup with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford who produced acclaimed albums such as Selling England by the Pound (one of John Lennon’s favourites), Hackett is a multi-influenced musician, if includes jazz, world music. and blue. He has also released albums of classical music and interpretations of works by composers such as Bach and Satie, acoustic guitar compositions that have impressed many including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar and orchestral albums such as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream “, recorded by the Royal Philharmonic.

Steve’s guitar playing produced some of the most memorable moments of Genesis music, from beautiful acoustic entries like Horizons and Blood on the Rooftops to rock dramas like Firth of Fifth and Fountain of Salmacis. His solo work, which saw him experiment with new sounds and techniques such as “banging”, achieved great success in America in the mid-1980s, not only with the single Cell 151, but also with the GTR group founded by Steve Hackett and Steve Howe. .

After GTR, Hackett collaborated with many famous musicians such as Paul Carrack, Bonnie Tyler, John Wetton and Brian May, who cited Steve as one of his early influences. In 1996, the album “Genesis Revisited” was released. With 1994’s “Blues with a Feeling” he returned further to his roots, continuing to challenge his “horizons” with a mix of sounds and genres.

The most recent albums have a high modern level: from “Darktown” and “Wild Orchids” to “Watching the Storm”. 2009’s “Out of the Tunnel’s Mouth” was hailed by many fans and critics as his best album ever. Hot on the heels of OOTTM came “Beyond the Covered Horizon” in 2011, which received an equally enthusiastic reception. In 2012 Steve collaborated with Chris Squire of Yes for the album “A Life Within a Day”.

Genesis’ induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March 2010 is a testament to the group’s incredible musical legacy. In 2012 “Genesis Revisited II” was released, two CDs. The Genesis Revisited world tour in 2013 was followed, by popular demand, with several tours also titled Genesis Revisited, mostly featuring Genesis songs and solo material.

After the success of the album “Wolflight” in 2015 and “The Night Siren” in 2017, in 2019 “At The Edge Of Light” achieved a prominent position in the charts of the UK and many other countries. In 2021 he released two studio albums “Under A Mediterranean Sky” and “Surrender Of Silence”, as well as releasing a live album and his biography during the most difficult period of Covid. Now he is touring the world again.

Mario Giammetti, a musician and journalist, made his debut in 1988 with a book about Genesis titled “The Story of Genesis” and published by Gammalibri. In the same year he started collaborating on “Ciao 2001”. In 1991 he started the fanzine “Dusk” dedicated to Genesis, the only Genesis magazine in the world, which has been published regularly since then.

Giammetti has written many books dedicated to the world of Genesis, who is considered a leading international expert. Among these, the Genesis Files series takes on particular importance: one volume for each member of the group, for a total of seven volumes published between 2005 and 2016.

On 8 May 2020 his first book was released to the international market: Genesis 1967 to 1975 – The Peter Gabriel Years, published by the London publishing house Kingmaker. The sequel, titled “The Beginning: 1975 to 2021 – The Phil Collins Years”, was released on September 10, 2021, in English only.

He also wrote for “Music”, “Free”, “Frequency”, “Guitar Club”, “Dance Club”, “Rockerilla”, “Classix!” and especially for “Rockstar” (from 1994 to 2010) and “Jam” (from 1999 to 2013). Since 2014 he has been regularly participating in “Classic Rock Lifestyle” and since 2016 he has also participated in “Vinile”. His articles have also appeared in the international music press, especially in the UK (Classic Rock, Prog, Record Collector) and Germany (Classic Rock). In 2017 he was among the winners of the Marzani International Journalism and Literature Award.

He is the guitarist and singer of the progressive rock band Algebra, who has released three albums and participated in ten tribute albums for other artists. He is the creator and co-producer of the first tribute to Genesis ever released to the world, the double album “The River of Constant Change”, published by Mellow Records in May 1995 and containing 26 tracks by many artists.
