Subaru will strengthen its presence in Europe, and the Netherlands will play an important role in this. In the coming years, the Japanese quality brand will present no less than eight electric models. The usual characteristics of the brand are preserved: Subaru stands for 4WD, safety and reliability.

Subaru is not as big a brand in the Netherlands as it is in Japan or the US. But the coming years will continue Subaru Kazuki Tanikuro, president of Subaru Benelux, is convinced of this. “Management has decided to focus more on EVs in the coming years as well as existing hybrid and ICE models,” he says at the press presentation of the new Subaru Crosstrek on the test track in Lelystad. “The Netherlands is one of the most important countries when it comes to selling electric vehicles. And we will expand our market share there. As a manufacturer with 70 years of experience, we can certainly compete with many inexperienced newcomers in the European market. The plans are there: eight new EVs will come to market by 2028. They have the same special features as all Subarus. Tanikuro sums it up as safe, fun and tough. Subarus are safe, fun and reliable, no matter what vehicle the customer chooses.

Peace of mind

“Peace of mind”, according to Tanikuro, is also a way to describe what Subaru stands for. “Peace of mind. Subaru is a very safe car, which gets the highest safety scores on all continents. Subarus are also proverbially reliable: even old cars will not let you down. To emphasize this, we are introducing Safe8: an eight-year warranty for all new models . You also drive very quietly, quietly and comfortably in our cars. And finally, the cost of ownership is very low. The operating costs are low and the residual value is high. That is also good for peace of mind. “

Safe in the rain

Perhaps the Subaru is more fun when you go off-road. The new Crosstrek has good ground clearance and, like all Subarus, 4-Wheel Drive and a CVT automatic transmission. Tanikuro emphasizes that these qualities are also important in the Netherlands. “We are increasingly seeing heavy rains. There are deep pools or waterways on the road. “There is no car that is better and safer on the road at such times than Subaru,” says Tanikuro. “Now we come with a good range of EVs. In the tradition of Subaru, these will be SUVs. This is specially designed for Dutch consumers. Our 20 Dutch dealers will have to respond to this with better service for their customers. We expect them to go the extra mile with us to promote our brand.”
