The new DS 7 Crossback 1.6 PureTech with a 225 HP engine costs a total of PLN 168,000 in the basic version. After adding all the extras we had in the test version, the price increases to more than PLN 200,000. In return, we get a big, beautiful, different car that impresses with its comfort and interior. Who exactly is the DS 7 for? We spent more than 24 hours a week behind the wheel of this car and drove almost 1,400 km. And I would like more and more.

Appearance

The exterior of the DS 7 Crossback has the typical appearance of a premium SUV. It easily competes with the leaders of its class. The beauty of the body is visible in the details – front headlights, rear lights, subtle stylistic details – all this makes the car stand out from the crowd, it stands out in the parking lot, it stands out on the road. It looks like a premium product and it is a premium product. The body is big, big, the doors are big, front and back, entry is high and comfortable. People who are looking for extravagance, however, won’t find much of it here, hidden in the details. And this is probably the only complaint about the bodywork – it can be given more flavor. It is elegant, correct. Because miracles are hidden only within.

The DS 7 Crossback has front-wheel drive. It has an excellent eight-speed EAT8 transmission, which is the smoothest automatic I’ve ever experienced. You can’t feel the gear change. The car is powered by a 225 horsepower engine, which seems to have been designed for this body. Because you must know that DS 7 is a big and big car. You can only feel the mass, so you need a powerful motor unit. I wouldn’t take anything less than 225 HP, unless you pay attention to fuel consumption and drive around town a lot. Because this connection uses a lot of oil, more on that later.

True luxury begins in the interior

While the exterior of the DS 7 Crossback is elegant but subdued, inside the luxury spectacle begins. Almost all features were designed specifically for the DS, from the large driver display to the original upholstery and paint. And this is perhaps the most attractive to travelers. Comfort, space and interior reminiscent of the best schools of French design.

This is where you can see the taste of French style and chic and have a wonderful time. DS 7 Crossback is clearly a car for connoisseurs of style. The interior is not without faults, but it is definitely a stronger step than the DS 7. First of all, there is space in the front and back – no one will complain about the inconvenience here. Luxurious seats, electric control of the rear seats and, finally, beautiful (optional, PLN 5,000) Rivoli Mistral upholstery make up the whole.

The touch-controlled operating system is simple and friendly, and we know the access to many functions inside and out after an hour of driving.

Minor disadvantages – the leather upholstery of the cockpit and the sides and back of the seats are different. The rear air vent cannot be turned off completely, even after turning off this option in the menu, there is a little wind from the rear air vent, and the gear lever is the same as in the Peugeot 3008 or Citroen C5 Aircross. The menu layout is also the same. However, these disadvantages do not outweigh the advantages.

For example, a small thing that pleases us – the place of the smartphone in the central console. Padded with plush. Or a beautiful color, visible at night – red with little highlights. Strange:

Jazda DS 7 Crossback

The engine runs quietly and smoothly and even with five people inside it can handle it. During a strong crossing, the engine revs up and only then some noise penetrates the interior. 225 HP is enough to move very strongly, although with this power you would want more and more.

The DS 7 Crossback’s suspension focuses on comfort while maintaining excellent handling parameters. DS 7 Crossback feels good on the road. I had the opportunity to drive 400 km a day, day after day, and I must admit that the car is capable of driving it. It is suitable for closing the family and going somewhere more with four or five people.

The interior does not sound well and you can talk calmly up to 180 km / h.

DS 7 Crossback vs. Xantia

Anyway, I did a comparison test: Citroen Xantia vs DS 7 Crossback editorial and… Xantia wins comfortably. No matter what the manufacturer does, the hydropneumatic suspension is still invincible in many respects. Of course, it’s worth emphasizing that the Xantia is also louder and more complex than the DS 7…

DS 7 Crossback – fuel consumption

To measure fuel consumption, I used the DS app, which is easy to download and use with your car. It saves routes and provides a basic summary of costs and kilometers traveled. My score? 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers and very strong driving. About half of the route is highway, the rest is divided into city and town driving.

However, not in a German or a Swedish car – with all their advantages – you will find such appearance and attention. small details. The DS 7 Crossback is a step towards cars that look a lot like the brand’s premium products – and it’s a successful one. If you value exclusivity, beauty and comfort in the automotive industry, the DS 7 will meet these requirements perfectly.
