The average Bentley buyer orders a BMW 1-Series with options

The average Bentley buyer orders 40,000 euros worth of options. And that’s not even counting Mulliner’s customization options…

Bentley sales declined

2023 was a remarkable year for Bentley. Although new sales fell by 11 per cent to 13,560 cars, the popularity of Mulliner options meant that further profits remained low.

Mulliner is Bentley’s personalization department. Customers can come here for unique colors, materials, finishes and options. The Mulliner program therefore goes further than Bentley’s standard options list, which already includes 46 billion different combinations.

“We’re selling a few thousand more cars a year than we did in the 2000s, but we’re three to four times more profitable,” Hallmark said. By 2023, seventy percent of new Bentleys would have at least one Mulliner option on board.

This includes the ‘standard’ options, for which the average Bentley buyer spends around 40,000 euros. In other words, it is the same as the new BMW 118i. Flying Spur, Continental GT and Bentayga start at around 260,000 euros.

The first prototype of electricity

Bentley planned to launch its first electric car in 2025, but the model has been delayed by a year. The large, luxury EV will be mounted on the PPE platform. This also does Audi Q6 E-Tron in Porsche Macan to use.

The new PPE architecture is a headache for the Volkswagen Group. The Q6 and Macan were launched recently, after a year’s delay due to software problems, among other things. And that unfortunately affects future PPE designs, such as from Bentley.

Flying Spur and Continental hybrid

Later this year, the brand will launch improved versions of the Flying Spur, Continental GT and Continental GTC, without the W12 engine (which received an honorable farewell in the small Batur), but with a V8 hybrid.
